"The biggest cherries I've ever seen!" is a frequently heard comment in the Cherry Shed. The bold sweetness of juicy cherries constantly delights our customers, as they come back again and again during the summer.
The cherries are grown locally in Paul and Tina Badcocks' orchard. The fertile, volcanic soils and temperate climate of Tasmania's northwest combine to give a long growing season which results in some of the largest and most richly flavoured cherries grown anywhere in the world. Free sampling of our many delicious cherry products will be a highlight of your summer visit to Tasmania.
After spectacular white blossoms in Spring, the cherries set on the trees and ripen in the Summer sun from mid-December. Hand-picked fruit is washed and sold fresh to customers at the Cherry Shed. Starting with the Merchant variety, fresh cherries are available from approximately December 20th just in time to make it to your festive table for Christmas.
Then in succession Van, Stella, Sylvia and Lapins cherries ripen throughout summer and will be on sale at the Cherry Shed until mid-February.
